March 2006 Archives

If you're a member of FusionCash.net, don't forget that you have to request payment on the last day of the month (that's today!) to be paid by the 20th of the following month.

I've written before about how happy I am with FC and I continue to be impressed. I've been paid on time or early 4 months in a row: $67 in December, $116 in January, $85 in February, and $68 in March. I just cashed out for my April payment of $109.

Any time I've submitted a question via their support form, I've gotten a response within 12 hours (or sooner)...and a pleasant and helpful one at that!

The key to earning with FusionCash is being organized: note when you joined a program, the time limit to cancel without further charges, and when you cancelled. Keep all your emails. And I like to use a one-time use credit card number (if you have an MBNA or AmEx card, log into your account online to create one) or a prepaid debit card just in case...but if you're organized enough, that's not really necessary.

I haven't had any crediting problems with FusionCash. They even email you to let you know when your account has been credited for a particular offer (some credit instantly, like the StarClubRewards one I did this morning...$1 for a one month trial, and your FusionCash account is credited $13.20 instantly). BUT, keeping an email trail is always a good idea just in case!

So, those are my tips for FusionCash. The more organized you are, the more offers you can complete...thus the more money you will earn. But don't take my word for it -- give 'em a try; join here!

CreationsRewards.net introduced its new look today and it is a definite improvement over the new site. Earnings opportunities are now broken down into categories, such as Contest Offers, Credit Card Offers, and Newsletter Offers. Another big improvement is in the Spend area, where all redemptions are visible at a glance.

Creations has always been known for superior customer service. Kudos to Chris for a new site that's both attractive and easier to navigate!

On April 1, Upper Deck launches its Upper Deck Kids rewards program. Cards in 2006 Upper Deck baseball packs will contain a code that kids can enter online for points. These points can be cashed in for prizes, including video games, iTunes, and movie memorabilia. Point value won't be related to the dollar value of the card -- "common cards" may be worth more than top player cards. Cards will be worth 50-250 points each (100 points average). Prizes will start at 1000 points.

The Upper Deck Kids website is here.

Update, 12/06:
The program is open to all residents of the U.S. and Canada (except Quebec). Participants under 13 require parental consent. Prizes include:
1 iTunes Download - 7,000 points
3 iTunes Downloads - 15,000 points
Fandango Bucks - 25,000 points
Wall Stars Decals - 100,000 points
Xbox 360 - 750,000 points

Is 750,000 points attainable? According to the current leaderboard (12/30/06), there are 25 people with over 750,000 points. The top 100 all have over 450,000 points.

From Betty Crocker's website: "The final printed Betty Crocker Catalog is scheduled to be published later in 2006. After 2006, we may in our discretion continue to accept points toward purchases of a limited selection of merchandised offered only online, but only while inventory lasts. Substantial inventory reductions are likely to occur as 2006 proceeds."

There was an interesting article in yesterday's Salt Lake Tribute about "charity" rewards programs and whether or not members' earnings actually make it to the charity. Some points worth repeating: there is no oversight over these programs and no way to tell if the money actually is sent where you intended, and purchases made through these programs are NOT tax-deductible. Good advice from the article: shop from the merchant with the cheapest price and manually donate the difference to charity (THAT amount would be tax-deductible).

Today only, members of QuizPoints who try out their FREE AOL MusicNow offer will not only receive 1,000 points (worth $20), but also a $10 Olive Garden GC direct from QuizPoints!

The link to this offer is on the main QP page when you log in. If you're not a member of QuizPoints yet, please read my review of it here or click here to go ahead and sign up -- thanks!

I just cashed out for the first time at Opinion Outpost and wanted to recommend it to y'all. I joined it last summer and did a survey, then I didn't hear anything else from them. Turned out that their surveys were going to my spam folder. I added the correct email address to my address book and got another survey two days later... and had enough points to cash out for a $5.00 check!

They pay by check when you have a minimum of $5.00 in your account. One point = 10 cents. I got even got paid 2 points, or 20 cents, for attempting a survey but not qualifying for it! Can't beat THAT deal!

Here's my link to join (thanks)...be sure that you add opinionoutpost.com to your address book...info on how to do this for specific email providers is here.

Update, 9/12/06: I have been paid by Opinion Outpost twice -- the first time in about 4 weeks, and the second within 2. Make sure you follow the instructions on their site to add them to your address book!

Greenpoints members in the PA, OH, and WV areas have been able to earn points offline on their purchases at Shop'n'Save grocery stores since early 2002, but that's about to change. According to articles at TheDerrick.com and the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Shop'n'Save is discontinuing its program as of March 17. Through that date, shoppers can choose to redeem their points for instant discounts (2,500 points = $2 off or 9,000 points = $10 off) or for $10 Shop'n'Save GCs to use later (for 10,000 points). The points will still be good after March 17, but only available for online redemption.

Shop'n'Save stores were purchased by the SuperValu chain, and now SuperValu is selling many of their regional stores. There are at least two independent Shop'n'Saves that will continue on with Greenpoints, but the majority of the chain will cut the program as of March 17.

Update, 3/10: WinAtlanta is back up; domain registration was renewed for one year. BigWinCity.com has not yet been renewed yet (or at least it's not showing up yet as such).

It appears that the owner(s) of WinAtlanta (and the other sites aliased to it, including BigWinCity) has decided to let his domains go without renewing them. WinAtlanta.com expired on the 2nd and is now a "pending renewal or deletion" holding page from registrar GoDaddy. BigWinCity.com expired yesterday but is still coming up, so you can access your account from there, though I don't know for what purpose. If the site owner isn't renewing registration, there's no reason to believe he's going to honor any prizes.

I contacted the owner at the registration information on file with GoDaddy and asked for a comment. Will update this if I hear back... otherwise, I think we can assume the site is kaput.
