March 2005 Archives
I just wanted to plug the DealOfDay.com website for those of you who aren't familiar with it. It was the first or maybe second deal forum that I became active on, in 5/00. The forum used to be one of the most active deal boards out there but it has really dwindled recently and I'm not sure why. I'd love to see it return to its former glory, though -- going to DealOfDay to me is like going "home." If you get a second and wouldn't mind taking a look, and possibly making a post or two, here's the link: http://forums.dealofday.com/
Also, I have the honor of being one of the handful of folks chosen by the site's owner to post articles on DealOfDay's new blog! I'm really stoked about it and I think it's going to be fun and educational for readers, too. Here's the link to that: http://articles.dealofday.com/ Please come by and leave your comments!
This week, QuickRewards made its 10,000th member payout. Big accomplishment for the best kept secret in rewards programs! QR has been quietly setting the standard for quality customer service since its inception about two years ago. Congrats to Dmitry and the rest of the QuickRewards team! My review of QuickRewards is here -- make sure you read about the 25c signup bonus!
Yesterday, Vesdia Corporation (the parent company of BabyMint, StockBack, and NestEggz) announced it was starting a charity rewards program, very similar to Giving2Gether.org, reviewed here recently.
A full review is forthcoming, but it appears the new program, called FundraiserRewards, is set up similar to Vesdia's other rewards programs. Shop through their links to accumulate rebates and the minimum payout is $25 or more...but unlike the other sites, you donate your earnings to the charity of your choice. They also have a credit card for you to earn/donate 1% of your purchases.
The press release is here.
CoolSavings, the online coupon site, has launched their own rewards program called Freestyle Rewards. It's a very straightforward, generic, straight rebate shopping site. Their rates do appear to be fairly competitive.
Members can cash out their earnings in $20 increments for a debit Mastercard.
They send out emails occasionally worth 5 points to click through and visit the site or any featured offer.

QuickRewards.net has resumed sending daily paid emails. They contain at least one free site visit point and some exclusive cash earning offers that are not on the site. Plus, when you do an offer in the email, you don't have to do anything special to confirm it -- it automatically tracks back to your QR account. Dmitry says that about 1000 users' accounts are bouncing his email, plus there are some folks who haven't even opted in to receive it. All those folks are missing out! So...if you're not receiving the email, make sure you're opted in by going to Profile and clicking YES to receive emails...also, make sure that you use a valid email address for your login there. Remember, you do NOT have to use the same email address for completing spam-type offers on the site! If you need to change your email address, send a message to webmaster@freedvdforyou.com with your old email address, your new email address, and your current password, and he'll change it for you.
SixQuestions.com is beta-testing a new version of their software on SixQuestions.NET -- some changes include HOURLY contests, people with less than 6/6 still receiving a portion of the pot, questions being drawn at random from a pool of user-contributed questions, rating of each question, user-submitted polls which are also rated, etc. You can sign up to be a beta-tester at sixquestions.net but be aware that accounts there will be zeroed out when beta-testing ends. Since WinAtlanta uses the same software, there's a chance that site may also change formats in the near future -- stay tuned!
One of my newsletter subscribers noticed that MyPoints has recently increased the number of points to cash out for a couple of their GCs: $25 Barnes and Noble and Macy's GCs were increased from 2750 points to 3000. For right now, though BDalton $25 GCs remain at 2750 points.
Update, April 1: The winners are: 1. Dwayla, with 206,801 points; 2. Maryjane, with 187,952 points; and 3. Froggi999, with 127,641 points! So far it appears the referral contest winner is Maryjane, with 4 referrals that made it to level 2 in March! Congrats!
It's March 1, and that means everyone's monthly totals are zeroed out at Sploofus.com. Sounds like a good time to start a contest!
CompareRewards is going to give away prizes to those Sploofus members who joined (or will join) Sploofus with my link!
Here's the details: the top 3 monthly scorers in my downline (meaning you joined with my link) will receive a prize:
#1 gets a $10 Target GC
#2 gets $5 in Paypal
#3 gets your choice of a dozen free Krispy Kreme donuts or $3 in Paypal.
AND...the top referrer will get a FREE GOLD SPLOOFUS MEMBERSHIP! The caveats here are that these have to be legitimate referrals (meaning they have a unique IP address -- not your spouse or your dog, hehe), and they HAVE to reach level 2 before the end of March. Since they have to answer 10 daily questions correctly to make it to level 2, they need to join ASAP! Remember, you earn 5000 points anytime you refer someone who makes it to level 2, so even if you aren't the top referrer, you'll still earn lots of points from this.
THESE PRIZES ARE ONLY AVAILABLE TO THE PEOPLE WHO HAVE JOINED, OR DO JOIN, SPLOOFUS WITH MY LINK. So your odds of winning one of MY prizes are much better than winning one of Sploofus's, since you're competing against fewer people!
So, get out there and play WordRounds, take a quiz, write a quiz, challenge someone, make a wager, and refer your friends, and on April 1 you'll be no fool when you bring home a great prize! Not a Sploofuseer yet? Join with my link and get in on this fun contest now, since everyone's monthly totals were just reset to 0. Have fun and good luck!
