Betty Crocker to Discontinue Catalog and Phase Out Points Online

| | Comments (73)

From Betty Crocker's website: "The final printed Betty Crocker Catalog is scheduled to be published later in 2006. After 2006, we may in our discretion continue to accept points toward purchases of a limited selection of merchandised offered only online, but only while inventory lasts. Substantial inventory reductions are likely to occur as 2006 proceeds."

I would just like to have a catalog for the points sent to me at:

Dorothy Weyers
310 Hazel St.
Pella, IA 50219-1933

I have some coupons and would like to see what I could get with them, if anything, before you stop the coupons--if I understand right---you are not going to have them any longer.
Thanks;

I have been saving points and boxtops, forever it seems, and I wanted to let you know I am very disappointed for the change in policy. What a great way to get silverware and really nice kitchen wares and Christmas gifts that were unique.

Please keep me posted and can I have the catalog before you stop the program?
Thanks

I went to the Betty Crocker page and ordered. Some of the items were marked backorder but the order went through anyway and the confirmation said it would take longer than in stock items.

When I checked out, the form gave me the number of coupons to send and where to send them.

So I guess it IS still working through 2006.

Wow, I'm so dissappointed to learn the catalog is being phased out. For years I've supplied my kitchen with all my knives, grapefruit spoons, demitask spoons, etc. with this great reward system. I was about to place an order ... I am sad to see it end.

I owe 100 points still. Can you explain this

In organizing my mom's points, I found she has some from almost 30 years ago. Amazing! Those older ones appear to have expiration dates on them, however. Am I interpreting this correctly--"Redeemable with cash by U.S. purchaser of product before April, 1992"? Is that, in fact, an expiration date? Are those with that wording trash, then?

As of today, 10/26, there is a VERY limited selection of items available. I placed one more order for a few flatware odds and ends in a couple of patterns, but there's not much left of anything.

You can see their catalogue on-line viat BettyCrocker.com, but most of it is flagged as sold out.

I was just wondering how the whole cooking.com 10% process works. It said to send in 100 points with my email, but I have 3050 and I want use all of them, do I have to send in 305 separate letters, or what?

I have been saving Betty Crocker points since I was 14 years old. I am now 25 and have an abundance of them! I only wish that the point program was still around. I remember being a young girl and looking at all of the wonderful things that catalog had to offer. Saving these points was truly a bonding experience for my mother and I. Gone are the days of purusing the Betty Crocker Catalog and picking things out for my future.

This is very sad that this has been phased out. I too have fond memories of collecting these points with my grandmother and my mom. I just TODAY had my daughter add up all our points only to find out it is no longer an option. I really think you need to reconsider. Betty Crocker Points is a household event.
Blessings!

I,m very disappointed that the catalog has stopped. My Grandmother order silverware for her children, grandchildren and even some of her great-grandchildren to start them off in life. Now none of us can order for our children like she did to start us. It is also where I was hoping to get more of my Blue Willow Dishes. There were always things thar you could not get in the stores where I live.
Betty Crocker your catalog will be sourly missed.

i bought a box yesterday with points on it and the expiration for the box was sep 2007 - i had tossed all my prior points when they said program done as i didnt have any cash at the time to buy anything. i had been collecting since the forever. my mom had some too and she is 78 i am 58 i loved the catalog especially the friendly village stuff from johnson. i had intended to buy the whole collection with my points and cash in a couple of more years. very sad, as when faced with a choice between a brand that was stocked near my home and having to go an extra couple of miles to get the betty crocker i went because not only do i like her product better but i didnt want to miss my points. i think closing is a marketing mistake in view of all the forties cookware that is making a comeback and the companys strong connection to the forties and fifties, as well as today. thanks joan

I remember my Grandmother collecting points back in the 1970's. She saved enough to purchase silverwear for my and my sisters.
I've been saving coupons for years and finally looked up the catalogue and found out they are closing...Very sad. Great memories since my Grandmother is with the Lord now.

I have been married for 41 years and have saved these coupons the full time. My Daughter was helping me clean and wanted to throw them out. Pack Rat that I am, said no way. She insisted they were old and probably no good. I said yes they were. Computer savy daughter went on line and was very pleased to announced to me they had been discontinued and thru them out. I found many more today putting my thanksgiving dishes away. I got on line to check out info for myself. I am going to dig the other coupons out of the garbage and wait for a response from you on what I can do with them. It is hard for me to accept because I did not know about the discontinuing of the program that you will not honor this effort in some way. Thank You for any suggestions do not have the heart to throw them out!!!! Diane

My sister-in-law, my mother (deceased now) and I have been saving these points forever. I mailed in a letter to receive a Betty Crocker Catalog to which my letter returned to me along with the 50 cents for the catalog saying the box is closed. Please let me know if all this work of cutting these points out, and all the years of saving has been done for nothing. I would just like to turn the points in and receive the silverware that you have stated in all your previous advertisements to turn these in. I had heard nothing about this program being phased out or I would have turned them in a long time ago. Please e-mail me. Thank you. A very discouraged shopper.

I just counted my BC coupons, 550 points, thought I would check to see what I count get for them. To my surprise I found this page, finally, saying the program had closed. I was traveling this summer, and did not think of the point program. I have been dropping them in a container in the kitchen and came across them this a.m.. I have saved and redeemed them ever since I married, in 1964, of course because Mother did. I have two sets of 8 place setting of silverware. Somehow the forks disappear, (maybe the trash can ate them) so I thought I would see about another set. Oh well, life is full of changes. Now I will have to try the Wally World (Wal-Mart). I have been saving the coupons since I was married in 1975. Today I was cleaning out one of my kitchen drawers and came accross my stash. I sorted them out by point value and trimmed them up nice and asked my husband to go online and see if you had a catalog on line on your website. I figured with today's technology you would have gotten away from a hard copy catalog. I was shocked to see that you ended the program. I agree with some of the other people that you should have advertised the closing of this long time tradition so that people could get one last order in before the close. What have you got to say about that? I would appreciate a response back to my comment.

Hey, what gives with BC?? I'm still buying products today (even those saying "new") with points on the packaging. I also have hundreds, saved over the years, and I guess they're headed for the trash?? The "boxtops for education" is a great program, so if consumers can no longer use their saved points for products, why can't we turn these in along with our "boxtops for education" labels, so at least the schools receive some benefit for our efforts??? THIS WOULD BE A GREAT PUBLICITY AND PUBLIC SERVICE PROGRAM FOR BC!

Ditto on the saving for years and shocked that you would quietly end this program after after who knows how long... Probably been going on since before Christ was a Pope. Anyway, please don't respond - I chucked'm. Funny thing is I've been clip'n 'em for so long I'm gonna go into withdrawals... Keep up the "Boxtop's for Education" or I'm switching to Pillsbury. My Best.

After finding out that I was a few months too late in going online to use my Betty Crocker points, I finally got up the courage today to add them up and see how many I really had. The horrifying result was 1780 points + a double point coupon, for a grand total of a whopping 3560 points. Now they're worthless because I never saw an announcement that the program would be ending. Do I dare to throw them away? Not a chance. They will go back into the little canister where I keep them and my Box Tops for Education. I don't dare to dispose of the BC points for fear that they'll reinstitute the program after I dump them all...

Don't know what your URL stands for, but I still can buy Betty Crocker with educational points or regular points. Have just recently found out you don't honor them anymore. Sneaky to quietly not tell us, but yet the consumer still buys your products. I still would like to get a catalog, since I feel you have let us down, and should honor the point system. Please RSVP. Guess will go with other products now.........

I was disheartened to find out that the points I've been saving for years along with my mother (who is now deceased) are no longer good.

I think in these difficult times Betty Crocker should bring the program back with a new twist.... Make it a big promotion maybe a sweepstakes, with each point being worth an entry, and / or maybe a contest and the person with the most wins a big money prize or college scholarships for their kids or something like that. Maybe even both contests a sweepstakes and the person who sends in the most also get a big prize.

I agree with many of the previous comments...
I also have hundreds, saved and used over the years, and recently found another envelope full of them!
I hate the idea of relinquishing them to the trash? The "boxtops for education" is a great program; an exchange program for our defunct points would be a great idea for Betty Crocker. Any chance the points program for merchandise, being reinstated? At least temporarily? I dont remember ever hearing news that the points program/catalog would be discontinued(?)

If there is any thing I can do with these box top other then throw her trust in your co. in the trash. please let me know.

The response to national disaster is awesome but it's a real shame that so many citizens take advantage of the negative situations.

I mean everytime there is an earthquake, a flood, an oil spill - there's always a group of heartless people who rip off tax payers.

This is in response to reading that 4 of Oprah Winfreys "angels" got busted ripping off the system. Shame on them!

Hello. My wife and I bought our house about 6 months ago. It was a foreclosure and we were able to get a great deal on it. We also took advantage of the 8K tax credit so that definitely helped. We did an extensive remodeling job and now I want to refinance to cut the term to a 20 or 15 year loan. Does anyone know any good sites for mortgage information? Thanks!
