Milesource the Next to Go? Hmm.

| | Comments (4)

After a tip from a long-suffering Milesource member, I took a look today at Milesource's available redemptions this morning. I found that there are no longer any redemptions available under 5,000 points -- neither merchandise nor items in the "Awardmile Certificate" categories. The site continues to display categories of "1,000 - 1,249 AwardMiles," "1,250 - 1,999 AwardMiles," "2,000 - 2,499 AwardMiles," "2,500 - 3,499 AwardMiles," and "3,500 - 4,499 AwardMiles"...although every single one of these categories are completely devoid of prizes.

Now this could just be a matter of the site being low on redemptions after the holidays, when many members cash out of their rewards programs. BUT -- keep in mind that the recently deceased SavingsRegisterRewards program was owned by the same folks who own Milesource, SilverCarrot.

Maybe they're revamping the program, planning to permanently eliminate those lower redemption levels. There are still some redemptions available at 5,000 miles and higher. But I do think this is something to continue to monitor and for members to keep in mind when deciding whether to join, or continue to use, Milesource. Also please note that Milesource has a ridiculously drawn-out process of redemption, and that 4 months or more isn't an unusual wait for receiving your award. This program's a stinker, guys. Haven't heard anything positive about them in years.

I just sent the following to Milsource. I probably won't hear from them and even if I do, I doubt that they will refund my points.
-------------------------------------------------

On 11/3/2005, I ordered an award mile gift certificate for 3000 points. At the time there were Gift cards that could be obtained for 3000 points. But now (since it has taken you over 3 months and I have still not received my awardmiles) there is nothing I can purchase for 3000 points on your site. Since I can only use 1 reward certificate per purchase, the award certificate will be useless to me.

Please refund the 3000 points to my account so that I can combine them with my existing balance and have enough to cash in for something else.

I must tell you that your site is deteriorating rapidly and there is no-one out there recommending it anymore. I access your site everyday and do the click thru's but I am slowly losing confidence. I will not be accessing your site (and earning you dollars) until my 3000 points are refunded to my account.

Surprise! Surprise! They refunded my points that day. I guess there is someone alive back there. Hopefully they'll send the redemptions.

Becky, you should know that although the Milesource Award Center still lists a prize available at the 5,000-mile level -- a check for $10 -- I recently received the same "sorry, we are having trouble fulfilling that order; no prizes are available at that amount" crap. (Trouble fulfilling an order for a $10 check? Give me a break.)

I have told Milesource, twice, that if that award level is no longer available, they should remove the award from the Milesource Award Center twice. So far they have done nothing.

This program is deplorable.

I can personaly atest to one thing and that is today and moving forward these issues will be resolved. I have recently taken the site over and plan to bring the site back to the top.

Were here and alive!
